Homer Simpson from The Simpsons and Peter Griffin from Family Guy share many similarities, yet many differences. They both live this crazy, out of the box life in every episode of the show. Homer and Peter are also both idiotic, but can maintain their job ethics. The difference is that Homer, for the most part, tries to make up for his actions, while Peter, on the other hand, has no remorse towards his actions on the show. The two also face challenges throughout the series that make them different from each other.

Both Homer and Peter are fathers of three children in the series. Their wives on both shows keep the stability in the family. Still, with stability both Homer and Peter are never afraid to speak their minds, even if it comes off as offensive. Although seeming that Homer is just like Peter, Homer is portrayed as a loving father that treats his family with respect for the most part. Peter is viewed as a never changing idiot. Now, I may be an idiot. But there is one thing I am not, sir, and that, sir, is an idiot. Who he treats his children horribly; for example, he tends to make fun of his daughter Meg.

Also, both fathers treat their jobs with little to no care. Homer works as a nuclear safety inspector, holding the fate of a possible fatal nuke in his hands. Seeing how this could sound like an over the top, focus-intended job, it requires no experience in work nor education. Only impulse control and laziness, both qualities Homer Simpson has. As for Peter, he is a shipping manager for Pawtucket Patriot Brewery. He doesnt have impulse control when it comes to beer. Throughout the show, we can most definitely tell he loves a drink. In the majority of the episodes, you can catch him with his friends, …lets go drink until we cant feel feelings anymore. Though Homer doesnt work at a Brewery like Peter, he still enjoys drinking Duff Beer.

Homer faces challenges within himself. On the show, his conflicts seem to always be created by his own doings. For instance, since he began working as a safety inspector, the occurrence of accidents has doubled. To him, he is his worst enemy. While Peter challenges his fatuity, he is seen as brainless and unintelligent. In one episode he gazes into the cereal and yells: Oh my god, Brian. Theres a message in my Alpha-Bits. It says oooooooo. Referring to the Cheerios he was eating.

Despite the differences that both face their own challenges within the show, Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin share similarities throughout the two TV show series. Seeing that they both having similar personas to how they are towards the people and each others families, and how they take on their work ethics, not to mention that they wouldnt turn down a beer, it’s safe to say that overall Homer Simpson is more of a decent, caring person in comparison with Peter Griffin.
