Michael McCorkle Jones is an American football quarterback for the National Football Leagues New England Patriots (NFL). He played collegiate football at Alabama, where he has named a consensus All-American and won the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2020 (Al-Khateeb, 2021). Jones was taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Patriots and was then named the starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

Jones made his Sunday Night Football debut in Week 4 against former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl LV champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite the Patriots 1719 loss, Jones recorded the most straight completions by an NFL rookie since 1991, tying Bradys team record set in 2015 (Will Jones, 2022). Jones first fourth-quarter comeback and game-winning drive came against the Houston Texans in Week 5, when he helped the Patriots overcome a 922 deficit and win 2522. During his first five starts, he also tied Joe Burrows rookie record of 135 completions.
