Reflective practices are crucial as they enable the healthcare personnel to identify their strengths and weaknesses. According to Butts and Rich (2019), healthcare practitioners need to evaluate their daily performance to deliver the best care services to patients. Watching the videos on live birth, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy complications, postpartum assessment, and newborn assessment has made me feel that being a healthcare practitioner is a discipline that requires sacrifice. I believe I am in the right profession and should always focus on giving my patients the best services. Nevertheless, I have learned much regarding pregnancy and the menstrual cycle; for instance, after live birth, I should perform a postpartum hemorrhage assessment, postpartum assessment, and newborn assessment. I have also learned that I need to record what I have examined. According to the videos, nurses or clinical officers need to introduce themselves to the patient and ensure the room they are using provides privacy to the patient.

The five clinical-based videos selected were insightful, and I believe I will be able to apply the knowledge gained more directly to my field of study in different ways. For instance, watching the video on Newborn Screening Program enabled me to understand stages in blood spot specimen collection on newborns. Moreover, it made me realize the importance of reflective practice in using the attained data as a reference. The video of Postpartum Hemorrhage was informative as I learned about the machines used in quantifying blood loss and some of the considerations to adhere to when measuring blood loss. In summary, watching the videos was insightful as the videos highlighted the importance of reflective practice to healthcare.

This week, all the deliveries I participated in were successful, and both mothers and their children were safe. It is a fantastic experience seeing all mothers smiles because they have received their bundle of joy. We did all the assessments after delivery and declared them fit to go back to their families. I believe the best achievement for healthcare practitioners is to see their patients doing well. The knowledge from this weeks videos is engaging. I have learned much about how to become an effective healthcare practitioner.
