Introduction

Collaboration occurs in almost every company, yet, not every company has a collaborative culture. A firm could be said to have such a philosophy if cooperation occurs there on a regular and purposeful basis. Teamwork determines the procedures of how individuals do their jobs every day and the attitudes they have about their jobs. The main benefit of a collaboration culture is the presence of engaged employees, who are more likely to stay with the company. Aside from employee retention, a corporations reputation with highly-valued teamwork may assist a business in hiring top talent people. A company with a genuine collaboration culture might be HubSpot. The approach of the firm to its culture and the ratings demonstrate that the practice of the enterprise is successful.

Collaboration Culture at HubSpot

Several characteristics of HubSpot could be considered to contribute to its collaborative culture. First, the company asserts that not only the technology (software) that it creates is its product but also its culture. Moreover, the firm declares that its core values of flexibility, autonomy, transparency, and belonging determine the organization (Comparably, n.d.-b, para. 1). This corresponds to the cooperative approach, in which a team must be aligned around similar goals and be clear about how they intend to attain those goals. Furthermore, the company tries to build a diverse and inclusive workplace, locations where employees may interact with one another, form connections, and become trusted collaborators. (Comparably, n.d.-b, para. 1). This strategy results in the formation of solid teamwork, trust relationships, and sharing practices that are the primary components of a collaboration culture.

HubSpot culture can be safely stated to be successful at collaboration, what can be observed from its ratings concerning employees satisfaction factors. As such, according to Comparably (n.d.-a), the companys culture score is A+, which is the highest level possible. Moreover, it is rated as the second most advantageous place to work, which could be considered an indicator of a safe and effective office. Next, 98% of HubSpot employees are satisfied and honored to work for the firm (Comparably, n.d.-b). A similar amount of workers is inspired by their organizations mission, vision, and values and views the companys goals as evident, which is a sign of high transparency. Finally, about a third of the staff in HubSpot feel the most connected and loyal to their colleagues, proving that the company has succeeded in creating a cooperative atmosphere (Comparably, n.d.-b). Thus, the workers gratification, teamwork, knowledge of the shared mission of the firm, and active participation in its manifestation make HubSpot a company with effective collaboration culture.

Furthermore, the companys top leaders facilitate a culture of cooperation and trust. In such an approach, front-runners must become collaborative role models for collaboration to take root as an organizational value truly. Their team members would appreciate their efforts if the leaders practice what they recommend to others, listen to their employees, demonstrate respect, leave room for the independence of the workers, and reward the collaboration. Yamini Rangan, the CEO of HubSpot, is rated extraordinarily high by her employees; the managers and executive team of the company receive similar workers scores and are described as honest, fair, and professional (Comparably, n.d.-b). This information signifies that the leaders fulfill the expectation of their employees and participate in the creation of the collaboration culture.

There were various situations where I was part of a collaborative effort that was both successful and failed. For example, I have participated in a school art project in which teamwork has been effective. In the project, other members of the group and I have had to create a banner that would reflect an important idea about society. Although people who have taken part in this task have been from different grades, with unequal drawing skills and diverse understanding of the significant matters to depict, the team has eventually delivered a joint project. It has been coherent and at the same time multifaceted since each person has made their contribution. The other experience was not successful: it was a group assignment, the result of which was a low-quality presentation.

In these teamwork efforts, there were several similarities and differences. As such, both projects had been done by multiple people with little in common, and the final goal has not been assigned clearly. However, in the first project, the members collectively discussed the desired outcome, distributed the tasks, and arranged to help each other if someone had problems with particular drawings. Yet, there was an only distribution of the material to cover in the second project, no mutual help, and no communication about the result and shared values. Hence, I think the second teamwork was unsuccessful due to the lack of transparency, dialogue, and the desire to assist the other members.

Conclusion

To conclude, collaboration culture is an important approach that should penetrate the structure of the organization at all of its levels. In the case of HubSpot, the cooperation is not only mentioned in the mission and statement of the company but is manifested by its employees and leaders, resulting in high satisfaction in the workplace. As for my experience, I can state that communication, clear and shared vision, and mutual help among the team members are critical elements of successful cooperation.
