Aligning a company’s human resources and business strategies is critical when seeking to increase competitive advantage. Some reasons that a business may seek to align or realign their business and HR strategies could include organizational restructuring, employee hiring and retention goals, social responsibility initiatives, and crisis management. The textbook broadly categorizes human resource strategies under internal and external cost and differentiation labor orientations and notes that these can differ based on a company’s strategic direction. Examples include free agents, loyal soldiers, bargain laborers, and committed experts. In this assignment, you will research examples of best practices and frameworks to align HR and business strategies with the goal of increasing competitive advantage and/or diversity.

Research best practices and frameworks for human resources and business strategies.
Summarize two examples of human resources and business strategy frameworks or best practices.
Describe two different approaches to how a company can align their human resources and business strategies.
Recommend one of the approaches for a company that wants to increase diversity or competitive advantage.
Support the recommendation with specific evidence related to the chosen outcome (diversity or competitive advantage).
