Assignment #1 Instructions:
As you proceed through this class, you will begin to apply the information to assessment and program planning for yourself and future clients/athletes. Many of you are already working as a Personal Trainer, either one-on-one or with a team. If so, you will see many parallels, and the information provided in this class will help to improve your efficiency as a Personal Trainer and Coach. If you do not currently work as a Coach or Personal Trainer, this is the time to start!!
For all of the assignments in this class you will use yourself as the “client”. You have 24 hour, direct access to all of the information necessary to complete the assignments.
If you have any limitations or cannot perform any of the assessments due to location or physical limitations (pregnancy, injury, etc) email your Instructor and they will work with you to find a “client” that you can use.

Personal Fitness Assessment: Stages of Change & Goal Setting
For this assignment you will be responsible to provide the following information regarding your Fitness Assessment:
Background on your Client (YOU)
Explain why the psychology of exercise is instrumental in behavioral coaching: When working on your own fitness program and When working with others? (Refer to the “Determinants of Participation in Exercise” and the “Stages of Change Model” within the attachment and in your readings).
Using the attached “TMBC Stage of Change Model Worksheet”
Identify your current Stage of Change.
How will understanding your current Stage of Change assist you with Exercise and Lifestyle goal setting?
Identify and define your personal Exercise and Lifestyle Goals (Use attached “NASM Goal Setting Worksheet”, show your work via photo of your completed printed worksheet, or typed narrative using each item identified on the worksheet).
In your opinion, describe the need for Fitness Assessments of your clients.
Why do you think they are they necessary?
What information should a Fitness Assessment provide?
Who would a fitness assessment benefit & and why?
This paper is the beginning of the development of a programming plan that you will be creating for your client (YOU). The protocol that you develop now can serve as an Assessment Tool in your future work as a Personal Trainer or Coach.

You are required to use the attached Assignment 1 WK1 Template for your submission, to assist you with layout. Within your assignment use a combination of narrative & any templates charts/graphs that you think are appropriate (see assignment attachments noted within the instructions).

Requirements:
The narrative of your paper should be a minimum of 3 written pages (not including title page and reference page); charts or tables will enhance your project but will not count toward your total page count. Please support the rationale for your thoughts and opinions. Cite the sources of any definitions or ideas that are not your own using appropriate academic sources (minimum of 2 References – required readings as sources are allowed and encouraged).

The writing component must meet all rules of APA formatting (7th edition)

Including the title and reference pages, your entire submission will be no shorter than 5 pages.

There are several ways to incorporate a Template/Table into your WORD document; a few hints:
If you are unsure of how to do this -the easiest way is to complete your template on one document, then take a screenshot (I use a Mac & the command for screenshot is command+shift+4, which then gets saved as a pic. On a PC, there is often a “print screen” button which actually saves the screenshot to your desktop OR to a clipboard for you to paste in a word doc), open and copy the picture, then paste it into the document in the appropriate spot.
