Today she arrives to the office for a 3 p.m. nonstress test and tells the nurse she had a work project due that is giving her heartburn, and she has a nagging headache because of it. She hasn’t been drinking as much water as normal due to the stress of the day. She is eager to have the appointment over so she can go home, fill up on water, pop some Tums and chill.
Upon assessment her vaginal exam is 3cm dilated, 50% effaced and -2 station. She is alert and oriented with no visual disturbances. She voided dark, clear yellow urine, and has pitting edema in bilateral lower extremities.
Vital signs: T 98.1F, HE 84, RR 18, BP 168/100, SpO2 100% on room air.
