Throughout this course, you have conducted a shortened version of a Functional Behavior Assessment, a cyclical process that will occur throughout your career as a special educator. Now that you have collected pre- and post-intervention data for an identified behavior of a current student, you need to spend time analyzing the effectiveness of your intervention and discuss next steps for the student.
For this Assignment, you will analyze the process of identifying a behavior, collecting data, designing and implementing interventions, collecting data with the interventions in place, and analyzing the data to determine future plans to address the behavior. You will also examine how purposefully modifying undesirable behavior can impact social change for students, staff, and families.
Write a 3- to 4-page essay that includes the following two parts:
Part 1: Data Analysis
Write an analysis of the data describing the trends and your rationale as to why the behavior decreased, increased, or stayed the same when the intervention was put in place.
Explain the next steps for you and your student with regard to your findings from this shortened version of a Functional Behavior Assessment.
Attach the data tables of the pre and post data on your identified behavior as an appendix to your essay.
Part 2: Final Thoughts
Explain the process of researching interventions based on the needs of the student and collected data. How can you continue to use best practices such as this in the future to meet the diverse needs of your students?
Summarize your thoughts about this project and the impact, if any, you felt it had on your student or your professional practices.
Explain how modifying behavior can impact social change for the student, family, and other students in the classroom.
(Attached is a copy of a summary of the behavior)
