Abstract
Black people in America have been through so much such as segregation, slavery, racial Profiling and racism theres no doubt that we have evolved as a union, but those issues are still taking place across the world and Racial Profiling is at the top of the list. Racial Profiling is suspecting someone committed a crime determined by the color of their skin. In this Research Proposal I will be shining light on Police officers and how they racial profile black students, black adults, for being guilty of being black. Do Africans Americans commit more crimes than whites or is Racial Profiling playing a major role in most arrests. Just another day in America.
Statement of Problem
Judging someone based on the color of their skin is not only Illegal but its also considered as racial profiling. Racial Profiling is a very serious matter and yet no one seems to take it seriously until it happening to them. Police officers or people with Authority use racial profiling more than often but they are never accounted for their actions. The only people that are affected by racial profiling is people of color. Racial Profiling is a violation of ones civil rights.
Racial Profiling is not just a systematic, issue that African American must deal with but its also the implicit bias perspective of Whites who condone and rationalize such behavior (staples 2011).
Defense of my position
I choose this topic because no one likes to talk about the bad things black people go through everyone knows that something is not right but instead of speaking out about it everyone chooses to be quiet. These issues are important to me because not only am I an African American female, but I will have offsprings that are also African American, and no one wants to raise children in a world full of hate against black people. Also, its important to me because I want better for my people, I want my people to live this equal word that most whites like to pretend we live in.
The Key Issues
The key issues I will address is how to protect yourself from Racial Profiling. If you are Racial Profiled how to go about getting a great lawyer to sue. Getting to the bottom of how Racial profiling impact African Americans perception of the police. Why are black People more often Racially Profiled than any other race? Why do all or most police Checkpoints are in Black communities? When a checkpoint is set it is I set up on the bias that black communities have a likelier chance of being arrested in a checkpoint or is it the safety of the community.
Conclusion
In conclusion it is wrong for African Americans to be accused a committing a crime just by the base of their skin color. I will be shining light through the crocked police offices and the even crocked justice system. Its time someone finally speak on how racial profiling plays a major part in arrest and how those who are affected by racial profiling view he police. Imagine getting pulled over for a broken taillight and even up going to jail just to find out your taillight wasnt even out. Imagine driving on a regular day getting pulled over for what officers thought as a DWI when really, its a DWB (Driving while black) because according to police black drivers drive drunk more often than any other race. Imagine being pulled for being a suspect that happened 3 hours ago but you have a legit alibi and still convicted of something other than what you were accused of. Can you imagine that? Well I can because black people encounter these types of profiling everyday inside the work place. The only way we can be safe is inside our own home.
