Introduction

In our family, we have a strong belief that there is nothing more important than raising well-rounded and kind children. My parents and I have our personal views on upbringing which are based on a sense of morality and development of human qualities.

The Importance of Proper Upbringing

Raising a child is the most responsible and challenging task for parents. However, it can be delightful and pleasant if parents realize the importance and the possible results of their parenting. The key components of upbringing are the right parenting decisions, which often are very hard to make, and giving children an example of how to act in society (Lickona 3).

Background

Childrens view of life begins to form in the early years of their lives. It is crucial for parents to do their best to help the child become a decent person. Mothers and fathers must begin to praise their children and show them a proper model of behavior in early childhood (Bornstein 213).

Todays Parenting Challenges

It should be considered that todays parenting has become harder than ever. The reason for it is that there are a lot of social environment factors that can affect children. Nowadays, children have access to the internet and television. According to Lickona The peer group is an ever more powerful shaper of kids thinking and behavior, and it often teaches values that go directly against what we want our children to learn (4).

Encouraging Childrens Interests

Each child has his or her interests and talents. It is very important to support children in their hobbies and activities. Encouragement strengthens the relationship between children and parents and makes children respect their mothers and fathers even more. Also, encouragement may acknowledge a childs talents and lead him or her to great achievements in this area (Lickona 196).

Teaching Children to Read

It is never too early to make children loving reading. Parents can begin with reading stories and fairy tales to their kids. Even though children will not understand everything, they will notice the inflections and communication patterns. This will develop childrens listening vocabulary. Also, parents should keep books at home. Reading helps children to become intelligent, logical, and influences future success in education.

Respect Childrens Learning Styles

There is a common misconception that it is best to study in complete silence. There are a lot of suitable conditions for learning, and not every single of them requires silence. For some children, it is best to study the sound of music. When a child starts doing his homework or learning something, parents must not immediately remove all the sound sources. Instead of doing this, parents should find which conditions are the most appropriate for their child.

Conclusion

My parents and I have our personal views on upbringing which are based on a sense of morality and development of human qualities. Parenting is a very hard and responsible task. However, it can give pleasure. The most difficult task of parents is to make the right decisions. It requires analyzing the behavior of children and finding their personalities. Parents have to be the example for their children. That is why any good deeds must be appreciated and encouraged. One more thing parents should do is to teach children to read. Reading changes people, and proper books can correct childrens course of beliefs. Today, it is critical to raise children taking the issues of the modern world into account. Also, parents have to understand that studying in silence is not one and the only appropriate way to learn.
