The advertisement chosen for this assignment is posted at the website of Grady College, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The ad features the Colleges Internship Program, developed for international students (The advertisement, 2021). The advertisement itself is a picture of students from different countries who are happy to take part in the studies. There are females of different races since girls more often choose journalism as a career than boys do. This ad was selected because it emphasizes cross-cultural education in journalism and mass communication as a basis for promoting equality and impartiality of media coverage in all spheres of life (Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) Opportunity Available in 2021!). Studying together as an international group, students are likely to see each other as equal and later in their work will be less biased against gender, race, and other factors.

My personal reaction to the ad is positive I believe that an unbiased attitude should be at the core of journalists profession. The best way to nurture this attitude is to engage in cross-cultural communication. The ad is significant to the course as it allows the practical application of multicultural issues in peoples everyday lives. The fact that the program is meant for people in the media is especially relevant since these students are likely to form other peoples opinions through articles, news items, and broadcasts (Deardorff & Arasaratnam-Smith, 2017). I believe the ad will appeal to students who wish to engage in advertising and mass media since it shows opportunities to study in a cross-cultural environment. These studies are likely to develop such qualities as openness to new ideas, impartiality, respect for differences, and pave the way for international cooperation.
