Shadow and/or observe a principal or district level administrator completing their daily responsibilities and/or a leadership activity or task. Write a brief reflection paper highlighting this shadowing experience. Include a detailed description of the school or alternative-site and the activity. Shadowing experiences can be completed during the instructional day, if coverage is available. If coverage is not available, The following examples can be completed during non-instructional/non-work hours include shadowing the principal during dismissal, arrival, parent conferences, an evening PTA meeting or parent workshop, lunch duty, budget preparation, graduation or award assemblies, interviewing for an open position, administrative meetings, employee conferences, etc. Answer the following questions in your reflection paper: 1. Who was involved in the activity? 2. Why it was important? 3. What happened that you didn’t expect? 4. What worked? 5. What didn’t work? 6. What you would do differently if you were the principal or assistant principal or the director or executive director? 7. How did this shadowing experience differ from your experience shadowing an assistant principal? The reflection paper is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and spelling errors. The reflection paper should be formatted per current APA and 2-3 pages in length, excluding references page (no title page needed).
